It is therefore imperative to better understand the mechanisms of action to be able to optimize treatment protocols possibly through personalization of brain stimulation protocols. By identifying the current opportunities and challenges in the field, we hope to provide insights to help improve neuromodulation protocols to restore visual function in patients with visual system damage. BACKGROUND Despite a growing need for designing and monitoring health information sites through comprehensive examination of the various elements of website quality, there is little research that systematically models and presents such examinations. OBJECTIVES Applying the updated DeLone and McLean Model of Information Systems Success, this research aimed to examine how health information sites' information quality, system quality, and service quality lead to user satisfaction and perceived benefits. METHODS This research was conducted in a specific context of the National Health Information Portal (NHIP), a governmental health information site in South Korea. We conducted online survey in 2017, with 506 adults from the NHIP consumer panel. Data were analyzed using a confirmatory factor analysis, hierarchical ordinary least squares regression, and bootstrapping approach for a mediation test. RESULTS Of the three quality factors, information quality had significant associations with all outcome variables user satisfaction, intention to reuse the site, and perceived benefits of site use in health settings. There were also indirect paths from information quality to perceived benefits, one mediated through intention and the other mediated through satisfaction and then intention. #link# Service quality had a significant association with user satisfaction, and its impact on perceived benefits occurred indirectly through user satisfaction and intention in serial. By contrast, the role of system quality received no empirical support. IMPLICATIONS The results offer theoretical and practical implications for how to enhance the effectiveness of online health information sites. OBJECTIVE To determine the feasibility and evaluate effects of a computerized working memory (WM) training (WMT) in patients with Parkinson's Disease (PD) on cognitive and clinical outcomes. METHODS 76 patients with PD without cognitive impairment were randomized to either the WMT group (n&nbsp;=&nbsp;37), who participated in a 5-week adaptive WMT, or a passive waiting-list control group (CG, n&nbsp;=&nbsp;39). Patients underwent clinical and neuropsychological examination at baseline, after training, and at 3-months follow-up, with verbal WM and non-verbal WM as primary outcomes. Outcome assessors were blinded for group allocation. RESULTS All WMT participants completed the training successfully and reported high levels of motivation for and satisfaction with the training. Repeated-measures, linear mixed-effects models revealed positive training effects for the WMT group compared to the CG in verbal working memory with a small relative effect size 0.39 [95%CI 0.05; 0.76] for the 3-months follow-up only. No other reliable training effects in cognitive and clinical variables were found for either point of time. CONCLUSIONS In this randomized controlled trial, WMT was feasible and yielded some evidence for 3-months follow-up training gains in patients with PD. WMT might be an effective intervention to prevent cognitive decline in this patient group, however, more longitudinal studies with longer follow-up periods and more sensitive assessment tools will have to proof this concept. To prevent insect attack, plants evolved chemical and physical barriers, mainly studied in leaves, while limited knowledge is available for fruits, especially concerning mechanical barriers. We used the Mediterranean fruit fly to shed light on the mechanical ecology of insect-fruit attachment in a pest species. We tested the following hypotheses is there any sexual dimorphism in attachment devices and attachment ability? Can the attachment ability of females of Ceratitis capitata to fruits of various host plants vary according to fruit surfaces with different morphology (smooth, hairy, waxy) or physico-chemical properties? Leishmaniasis is a vector-borne infectious disease with a long history of infecting humans and other animals. It is a known emerging or resurging disease. The host nutritional state has an indispensable role in defense against pathogens. The host defense system disorganization as a result of undernutrition is responsible for asymptomatic infections and even severe diseases. Host susceptibility and pathophysiologic severity to infection can be aggravated owing to undernourishment in a number of pathways, and infection also may aggravate preexisting poor nutrition or further increase host susceptibility. This study suggests that there may be some relationship between malnutrition and the endemicity of the parasite. The susceptibility to and severity of leishmanial infection can be altered by the body weight and serum levels of micronutrients. Nutrition not only affects the vulnerability of the host but also may affect the desire of sandfly to bite a specific host. Apart from host defense mechanism, nutritional stress also greatly influences vector competence and host-seeking behavior, especially during larvae development.
